Hong Kong Beat China by 8 Wickets — Ehsan Khan and Mohammad Ghazanfar Share Six
China chose to bat and were all out for 40, losing their last six wickets for six runs. Every one of Hong Kong's six bowlers took a wicket, Ehsan Khan finishing with 3 for 5. Anshy Rath's 20 from seven balls meant the chase took 22 deliveries.
The whole match lasted 17 overs. China chose to bat and were bowled out for 40 in the 14th over, and Hong Kong knocked the runs off in 22 balls. It was the kind of afternoon where the scorecard tells most of the story, and the rest is about how cleanly Hong Kong went about it.
Six Hong Kong bowlers were used, and all six took a wicket. Only two extras were conceded. Hong Kong won by 8 wickets, with 98 balls remaining.

Hong Kong's bowlers attacked the stumps all afternoon. Four Chinese batters were lbw and three were bowled, so seven of the ten wickets came without needing a fielder. Mohammad Ghazanfar took three for 10 in his four overs, including the wicket of top-scorer Zong Yuechao, and Ehsan Khan cleaned up the tail. Aizaz Khan bowled one over, conceded one run and took a wicket.
The chase was handled with intent. Anshy Rath hit three fours and a six in his seven balls, Zeeshan Ali added 12 from eight, and Babar Hayat finished it in the fourth over. Two wins from two, and Hong Kong top the table.
China were 34 for 4 in the ninth over, which was not a strong position but was one they could have built on. Then the innings fell away: six wickets for six runs in four and a half overs. Zong Yuechao's 15 from 27 balls was the longest stay at the crease and the top score, as it was against Maldives on the opening day.
There were small things to hold on to. In Hong Kong's chase, Du Jianyao stumped Anshy Rath off Deng Jinqi, and Ma Qiancheng's first over brought the wicket of Zeeshan Ali. There are three more games for China in this group, and teams often learn more from afternoons like this than from easy ones.
China chose to bat at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval. The number of lbws and bowled dismissals suggests bowlers who pitched it up and straight got their reward. Hong Kong's chase, at over 11 an over, showed the pitch had runs in it for batters willing to play their shots. As on the opening day, the gap between the sides was about experience rather than conditions.
Ehsan Khan's figures read 3.2-1-5-3. He bowled a maiden, took two wickets in consecutive balls in the 12th over — Shenjian Zheng and Deng Jinqi, both bowled — and then bowled Yao Junting to end the innings. All three of his wickets were bowled. Twenty balls, five runs, three sets of stumps disturbed: an economical spell in every sense.
