Maldives vs Saudi Arabia: Muhammad Atif's 100 Not Out and 4 for 11, and Saudi Arabia Finish Unbeaten
Saudi Arabia chose to bat, lost Abdul Waheed early, and Muhammad Atif carried them to 194 for 5 with a 58-ball hundred. Then he took four wickets for 11 as Maldives lost five for three runs and were bowled out for 69. A 125-run win, five from five for the group winners.
Saudi Arabia had won Qualifier B before Wednesday's match at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval began; what remained was the manner of the finish, and Muhammad Atif chose a memorable one. He opened with Abdul Waheed, the tournament's leading run-scorer, and watched him bowled for 1 at 14 for 1 in the third over. He was still there at the end of the twentieth, 100 not out from 58 balls — five fours, seven sixes. Then he took 4 for 11 in three overs as Maldives, 54 for 3 in the 13th over, lost five wickets for three runs and were all out for 69.
Saudi Arabia won by 125 runs. Muhammad Atif was Player of the Match. Saudi Arabia finish the group unbeaten, five wins from five, on ten points; Maldives finish fifth on three.

Harsha Amarasinghe gave Maldives the wicket they would have picked first. Abdul Waheed, 189 runs in the tournament before this game, was bowled for 1 at 14 for 1 in the third over, and for a moment the group winners looked ordinary. Atif and Waji Ul Hassan then put on 96 for the second wicket across a little over ten overs. Waji made 34 of them from 29 balls, with two sixes, before Nazwan Ismail had him caught by Azyan Farhath at 110 for 2; Atif, by simple arithmetic, made most of the rest. Manan Ali went for 8 at 131 for 3 with 4.4 overs left, and it was from there, not before, that the innings became the one people will talk about.
Usman Khalid hit five sixes and a four in 39 from 15 balls. He and Atif added 55 in 25 balls for the fourth wicket, and Atif finished on 100 not out from 58 — five fours, seven sixes. Sheraz Iqbal took two wickets in the final over, Usman Khalid caught by Umar Adam at 186 and Abdul Wahid bowled at 192 after hitting a six off his two balls, and Saudi Arabia closed on 194 for 5. Umar Adam's 4-0-35-0 was the most economical spell Maldives managed, which says most of what needs to be said about the afternoon's bowling.
A chase of 195 was never likely, but for twelve overs Maldives batted as though they meant at least to keep the margin respectable. Azyan Farhath hit three fours in 18 before Zain Ul Abidin had him caught by Abdul Waheed at 24 for 1; Zain then took the return catch to remove Mohamed Rishwan, 11 from 31 balls, and had Ismail Ali lbw at 39 for 3. Zain's four overs cost ten runs and took three wickets. At 54 for 3 after 12.4 overs, with Ashan Yapa and Sheraz Iqbal together, the innings was slow but intact.
Then it was not. Sheraz Iqbal was caught by Zain Ul Abidin off Muhammad Atif at 54 for 4, and Hassan Rasheed was caught by Abdul Waheed off Atif the very next ball, 54 for 5. Abdul Wahid then bowled Umar Adam and trapped Shafraz Jaleel lbw with consecutive deliveries at the end of the 14th over, 56 for 6 and 56 for 7. Ibrahim Rizan was bowled by Atif at 57 for 8. Five wickets for three runs in nine balls, and four of them ducks: the scorecard reads 0, 0, 0, 0 in a straight column from Nos. 6 to 9. Harsha Amarasinghe hit a four in 8 before he was stumped by Sankar off Atif at 68, and Muhammad Saqib bowled Nazwan Ismail to end it at 69 in the 18th over. Ashan Yapa was left on 15 not out from 20 balls; he had been there since 39 for 3 and watched all of it from twenty-two yards.
A hundred and a four-for in the same match is the kind of afternoon a cricketer rarely gets twice. Atif's came at Bangi, in a group already decided, and the scorecard does not record who was watching — only what was done.
CricIntel Prediction Review
There was no CricIntel preview for this match, so there is no prediction to hold ourselves to. We will have full pre-match analysis for Saudi Arabia's next assignment at the Asia Regional Final.
What It Means for the Table
Qualifier B is complete. Saudi Arabia finish top on ten points, five wins from five; Hong Kong are second on seven; Malaysia third on six. Those three go through to the 2027 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Regional Final. Singapore (four), Maldives (three) and China (none) are eliminated.
Abdul Waheed finishes as the tournament's top run-scorer on 189 despite his 1 here, and Virandeep Singh of Malaysia as its leading wicket-taker with 11. For Maldives, fifth place on three points is where the week ends; the 54 for 3 was a reasonable position for a side chasing a number they could not reach, and the nine balls that followed it are the part they will want to understand before the next cycle comes round.
